Can you vote absentee in Mississippi?
This browser can’t show the questions. Use the options below to get help.
Check whether you can vote absentee
Registered voters may qualify when one of these is true. You are 65 or older. You have a physical disability, even a short-term one. It counts when voting in person would be a real hardship or a danger for you or others. Or you will be away from your home county on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov 3. This is not the whole list — see the full list of reasons to vote absentee.
Vote absentee in person
Your county circuit clerk’s office handles absentee voting. Call ahead to confirm voting hours. Go there, Saturday, Sept 19 through Saturday, Oct 31 at 12:00 noon. Bring one photo ID. Tell the clerk your absentee reason and vote at the office.
Can’t get to the clerk’s office?
Call the campaign: (228) 209-8749. A campaign volunteer will walk through your options with you. Voting by mail may be an option for some voters.
Call as soon as you can. Tell the volunteer if you are away for school or military duty, or cannot leave home. Calling the campaign does not cast your vote.
Check your registration
Check it on the Secretary of State’s Y’all Vote site — choose “Voter Registration Verification.” Have ready: your voting county, first and last name, date of birth, and the last four digits of your Social Security number. Already registered but need to change your name or address? The online update tool requires a current Mississippi driver’s license or DPS-issued photo ID — or update by paper at your circuit clerk’s office. New voter? Registration for the November 3 election closed Monday, October 5. Mississippi has no online or late registration. For future elections, register at your circuit clerk’s office or by mail.
Check your absentee ballot
Use the state’s Track my Absentee or Affidavit ballot lookup on My Election Day — have ready your county, first and last name, date of birth, and the last four digits of your Social Security number or your driver’s-license number — or call your circuit clerk’s office.
