Diversion Programs
I support evidence-based criminal justice reforms that reduce repeat offenses, expand diversion programs, and provide mental health and addiction treatment rather than relying solely on incarceration.
Prevention and Training
I will back policies that strengthen community policing, improve training, and support victims while focusing on prevention and rehabilitation.
My Track recordI introduced legislation to create misdemeanor intervention courts and expand diversion options that address root causes and reduce repeat offenses.
Safe communities require both accountability and opportunity. I have introduced and supported reforms like ban-the-box employment protections, legislation granting investigatory and disciplinary powers to a state level law enforcement misconduct review board, delaying background checks until later in the application process, and improvements to law enforcement training standards which are proven to result in less crime and fewer arrests.
